Maple Trees

Tuesday, October 18, 2022

I harvested maple seeds this morning, into an old envelope (Second Use For Everything) and branded with the spare number 07. Later on I decided to make up two tubs of seeds from today (2022/10) and two tubs from four years ago (2018). Last winter the #11 2018 seeds sprouted about forty maple trees.

Too late I discovered that I had used up all the #11 seeds, so all four tubs are #7, despite the labels.

In the background of the image are a tray of pear cores (circular tins) and apple cores (oblong tins)

But that exercise used up all this morning's harvest, so I collected another handful of seeds.

The seeds themselves are green, and I noticed that the envelop had grown moist after only six hours, so the envelope is left open atop my seed cases, with the expectation that the seeds will dry out indoors over the next few weeks, after which the envelope can be placed inside its case.
